Maaike Perneel

Maaike Perneel (°1979) is Business Developer at the Ghent University in the domain of sustainable agriculture. She is coordinating the Ghent University business development centre CropFit, a network of professors with expertise in biocontrol and biostimulants.  

Maaike Perneel obtained her MSc Degree in 2002 in the Bioscience Engineering, specialisation crop protection at the Ghent University. In 2008 she successfully obtained her PhD in Bioscience Engineering at the same university on the biocontrol of soilborne pathogens. 

In 2009, Maaike Perneel continued her career as business development manager for the company Peltracom. Peltracom, now entitled Agaris, is a substrate producing company for business-to-business companies and business to consumers. She was heading the R&D department and marketing department in an international context.   In 2016, she returned to the Ghent University to become business developer of CropFit. Today, CropFit encompasses 35 professors with expertise in precision farming, biocontrol, biofertilizers and biostimulants. In her current job, she is responsible for the active transfer of the Ghent University technologies and know how to society via industrial collaborations.
