Joke Verbeke began her career as a healthcare professional and project coordinator for clinical trials. Driven by her interest in health research, she completed a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, focusing on the development and validation of technologies for health and lifestyle monitoring. Since 2024, she has served as the coordinator of the Health Intelligence Network.Gent (HINT.GENT), a consortium at Ghent University aimed at catalyzing research, innovation, and the implementation of AI tools in healthcare. In her role as coordinator, she is responsible for the daily management of the consortium and for establishing initiatives and collaborations to promote research and innovation in AI for health, as well as improving awareness and acceptance of AI technologies.

HINT.GENT comprises a network and consortium that brings together diverse expertise and stakeholders in AI & Health. All this with one goal: a future where AI and humans work synergistically to improve health(care). To bring this future closer, the focus of HINT.GENT is threefold:
1) renew education resulting in tomorrow's AI-educated health professionals
2) accelerate groundbreaking research where AI and health intertwine,
3) providing an ethical and legal framework to responsibly implement AI innovations in the healthcare sector.
